I am pre diabetic and was diagnosed after lockdown, since then I have been struggling to get into remission. I initially blamed this on poor food choices and was getting frustrated when I wasn’t see any improvement year after year and my doctors were not supporting me mange my pre diabetes.
I had been using Myfitnesspal for over a year and was not seeing any sort of improvement. I am so happy I found Vively, within the first week I noticed just how much wearing the CGM and having the data on my phone could help me manage my blood sugar levels.
The articles in the Vively app have been incredibly insightful—they made me realise just how much I didn’t know before. A big takeaway for me was seeing how my sugar levels react after food. For example, I was surprised that mango caused a such big spike. This knowledge is helping me adjust my eating patterns. It’s also been useful in managing low sugar drops and knowing when to intervene.
I also have loved seeing just how much specific foods impact my blood sugar levels. Watching my Glucose Graph interact with my logged meals and activities has been incredible insightful for me. I have learnt so much already!
I've noticed that I tend to spike after specific meals, when I get really tired, or in the evening. It’s probably food-related or due to a physically demanding day, so I’m trying to get on top of my diet and figure out where I might be going wrong.
One thing that really stands out is how my body is impacted after a HIIT class. I had a high heart rate, and managing it with my CGM was eye-opening. Also understanding how to fuel my body after exercise has been insightful.
I try to go for walks after my meals, even if it's just 10 minutes. However, sometimes in the hot weather I can’t go for a walk, so instead I’ve started stretching. I had no idea how much this would help my blood sugar spikes. I’ve started to love stretching, and I’m amazed at how much it helps me.
Vively has helped me learn about what foods are triggering a spike, especially with certain fruits like mango and lychee, which seem to spike my levels a lot. I’m not on a diet, but just by paying attention to what works for me I’ve noticed such a difference.
I plan on continuing my journey with Vively and to keep actively using the app. I love being able to log my meals and get a score, it’s really helping me understand which foods I should be prioritising.
